Christmas Giving Tree season is rapidly approaching.
Your generosity to the less fortunate is a special tradition
at Our Lady of the Woods. This year is another
year of great need. Beginning on Saturday,
November 21st, the GIVING TREE will be in the
Gathering Space. The tree will have ornaments (tags) on it with

gift information on the reverse side.
Gifts need to be returned by Sunday, December 6th.

Preparing to celebrate the mystery that is Christmas is what Advent should be about, but for most of us, it is a time of ceaseless marketing and relentless advertising. Add to that personal rounds of social events at school and work and it is very difficult to keep a spiritual focus during this time. One very good way to focus our thoughts and prayers during Advent is with an Advent Wreath. Our Lady of the Woods Parish will have a wreath making party on Sunday, November 29th following the 11:00am Mass.
After the artistic efforts are complete, we will take our wreaths into the church where both wreaths and artists will receive a blessing.
We invite everyone in our parish to join us for this event. It will be an afternoon that will warm your heart. It can be a great family activity, but it certainly is not limited to the “traditional” idea of family. If you are single, bring a friend or come and meet a few new friends. If you are a single parent, gather your kids of all ages. What could be easier? We supply the materials AND clean up the mess! We expect this event to last approximately 1 ˝ hours. Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. We are asking for a donation of $10.00 per wreath to help defray the costs.

Please provide the Parish Office your family last name, the number of adults attending, the number of children attending and the number of wreaths you will be making at $10.00 per wreath. Please turn this in by November 24th.

The Our Lady of Sorrows Novena has it roots in
Chicago and has spread world wide. In a vision, Jesus told the Blessed Veronica of Binasco, that, “He is more pleased in seeing His Mother filled with compassion than Himself… I loved My Mother Mary with an immense love, the meditation on the torments which She endured at My death is even more agreeable to Me.”

Join us on Tuesday mornings,
beginning November 17th, 9:15 am

We welcome all women!

Our mission is to provide hope, comfort, and healing to those
who most need a reminder of God's love for them through
the work of our hands and the prayers of our hearts.

The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies our thoughts and
prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in
prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.
Please join us if you are interested in knitting or crocheting shawls for those in need of
strength while undergoing medical procedures, in need of comfort after a loss, and in
need of peace and patience during an illness and recovery. If you don’t have the time or
the inclination to actually make a shawl, please consider supporting us financially.
Donations to our ministry are gratefully accepted in whatever dollar amount you feel
comfortable in giving. These donations will allow our ministry to purchase more yarn and
continue the 'ripple effect' of unconditional love!

If you or someone you know needs a reminder of God’s love for them please contact
the parish office for a prayer shawl. It is our gift to you and those you love.

Tuesday December 1st
from 7:30-9:00pm.

On Dec. 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, we begin
the Jubilee of Mercy. Pope Francis said, “... I have proclaimed
an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy as a special time for the
Church, a time when the witness of believers might grow
stronger and more effective. The Church is commissioned to
announce the mercy of God, the beating heart of the Gospel,
which in its own way must penetrate the heart and mind of every
person.” These are certainly some words to ponder.
Come explore, review and discuss the power and challenge of
this Jubilee of Mercy. Share your insight and experiences as we
reflect what Sacred Scripture and our Faith teaches us. This faith
-filled topic will be directed by the Holy Spirit and facilitated by you.
Please join us and be ready to share.

All men of the parish and guests always welcome!

“Be mindful of your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love, for
they have been from of old” (Ps 25:6)
