ADVENT!  Preparing to celebrate the mystery that is Christmas is what Advent should be about, but for most of us, it is a time of ceaseless marketing and relentless advertising.  Add to that personal rounds of social events at school and work and it is very difficult to keep a spiritual focus during this time.

One very good way to focus our thoughts and prayers during Advent is with an Advent Wreath.  Our Lady of the Woods Parish will have a wreath making party on Sunday, November 30th following the 11:00am Mass.  After the artistic efforts are complete, we will take our wreaths into the church where both wreaths and artists
will receive a blessing.

We invite everyone in our parish to join us for this event.  It will be an afternoon that will warm your heart.  It can be a great family activity, but it certainly is not limited to the “traditional” idea of family.  If you are single, bring a friend or come and meet a few new friends.  If you are a single parent, gather your kids of all ages.

What could be easier?  We supply the materials AND clean up the mess!  We expect this event to last approximately 1 ˝ hours.  Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.  We are asking for a donation of $10.00 per wreath to help defray the costs.

The Giving Tree

Christmas Giving Tree season is rapidly approaching.
Your generosity to the less fortunate is a special tradition at Our Lady of the Woods.
This year is another year of great need. Beginning on Saturday, November 22nd, the GIVING
TREE will be in the Gathering Space. The tree will have ornaments (tags) on it with gift information on
the reverse side. Please return gifts by Sunday, December 7th.

If shopping is an inconvenience for you, the Giving Tree Elves would be happy to shop for you.
Your cash donations or gift cards are always welcome. Gift cards are available for
purchase in the parish office through the Manna program.
Gifts will be distributed to St. Roman Parish, Casa Catalina, St. John Berchmans Parish, St. Coletta’s,
PADS and any of our parish families who may be in need.
