Preparing to celebrate the mystery that is
Christmas is what Advent should be about, but for most of us, it is a time
of ceaseless marketing and relentless advertising. Add to that personal
rounds of social events at school and work and it is very difficult to keep
a spiritual focus during this time. One very good way to focus our thoughts
and prayers during Advent is with an Advent Wreath. Our Lady of the Woods
Parish will have a wreath making party on Sunday, November 29th
following the 11:00am Mass.
After the artistic efforts are complete, we will
take our wreaths into the church where both wreaths and artists will receive
We invite everyone in our parish to join us for
this event. It will be an afternoon that will warm your heart. It can be a
great family activity, but it certainly is not limited to the “traditional”
idea of family. If you are single, bring a friend or come and meet a few new
friends. If you are a single parent, gather your kids of all ages. What
could be easier? We supply the materials AND clean up the mess! We expect
this event to last approximately 1 ˝ hours. Reservations will be accepted on
a first come, first serve basis. We are asking for a donation of $10.00 per
wreath to help defray the costs.
Please provide the Parish Office your family last name, the number
of adults attending, the number of children attending and the number of
wreaths you will be making at $10.00 per wreath. Please turn this in by

Veronica of Binasco, that, “He is more pleased in seeing His Mother filled
with compassion than Himself… I loved My Mother Mary with an immense love,
the meditation on the torments which She endured at My death is even more
agreeable to Me.”

On Dec. 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate

the Jubilee of Mercy.
Pope Francis said, “... I have proclaimed
an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy as a special
time for the
Church, a time when the witness of believers
stronger and more effective. The Church is

which in its own way must penetrate the heart and
mind of every
