Protecting All God's Children

Our Lady of the Woods is beginning to redo the Archdiocesan mandated background checks. Anyone over the age of 18 and works with children must go through this process.  The checks can be done online.  If you don't have access to a computer, the Church will provide you with access to one in the office.
Log on to the Archdiocese website at www.archchicago.org to access eAppsDB (which is the online form to be filled out).  At the Archdiocese website down the left side of the page is a section called Keeping Children Safe.  The bottom link in that section is eAppsDB.  Click on it.  This will take you to the log in page for the Archdiocese of Chicago.  As if you were applying for a job you will be answering questions and providing basic information.  When you first arrive at the login page you will need to register for an account.  You will need to provide a user ID and password.  (Make up a name and a password. Keep these two items in a safe place so that you can access your information at a later time.)

You should now be at the "New User Registration" screen.

All fields on this screen require an entry except e-mail address.
In the "Primary Site" field put in OL-Woods.
In the "Access code" field put the word protection.
You're in!  Click on each menu on the right side of the page and provide the information requested.
Please be aware that the "Background Check Information" area can only be entered into ONCE.  All other areas, you may start and come back to later.  Once you have completed and saved the background information, you CANNOT re-enter that area.  It is locked so no one can see it.

Once you have completed the requested information click on the "register" button.  You will receive a message indicating that you have been successfully registered in the system.  At this point you can log in.  Go to 'Application Overview'.  An* by a field indicates that entry is required in the field.  Required fields must be completed before information can be saved.  Answer questions in each of the following areas:

Main application form
Archdiocese of Chicago Questionnaire
Residential History
Employment History
Educational History
Volunteer History
References
Declarations
Background Check Information
Selected Sites form

Once you have completed all sections you may submit your application.  Click on the 'Submit Application' button.  You will receive a confirmation message, 'You have successfully submitted the application.
Thank you.'

Another requirement from the Archdiocese is Virtus Training

The Archdiocese of Chicago has mandated for all staff and volunteers who have regular contact with children to participate in Virtus Training.  It deals with empowering adults to be aware of people who pry on our children.
If you were not able to attend Colleen, John, Lorraine, Christine, Chris, and Father Mike are available for questions.

All of our catechists, office workers, traffic people, coaches, musicians and other ministers need to attend.
